Philippine Center of Minnesota(PCM)
HISTORY IN THE MAKING -- ONE BRICK AT A TIME!

The Philippine Center of Minnesota was formed when the various Filipino organizations met in January of 2001 to address the growing need of the Filipino community to have a place to call their own. A Board of Directors was formed representing the different organizations. Our mission is to create a Philippine Center for the Filipino community in Minnesota. We envisioned a Center that will promote and perpetrate our Filipino heritage, a place where our needs that are uniquely Filipino can be nurtured, a gathering place for every Filipino in our state.

A 2001 PCM-conducted survey showed that majority of Filipino Minnesotans are interested in having a Center that is centrally located within the Twin Cities or the 1st find suburbs. The majority also felt that a renovated building will be a good home for the PCM. (Philippine Center FAQ)

We in the planning stages of a massive capital campaign to acquire our building. Our goal is to raise at least $500,000 in the next two years. We are also organizing multiple events to raise funds for our campaign expenses.

We have a long journey ahead of us. We will need all Filipino Minnesotans to join us in this exciting endeavor. Here lies our challenge -- to work together as a community so we can build a legacy for our children and for those who will come after us.

If we have a PCM ...IMAGINE what we can do...

  • we can have a gathering place for social events, meeting, seminars, dance and music practices and sports activities
  • we can have offices for our different organizations
  • we can have a library/small museum where we can showcase Philippine artifacts or hold exhibits of our communities art and music
  • we can have a resource center for our new Filipino immigrants to Minnesota
  • we cane have a coffee house/Filipino delicacy shop where bother young and old can "hang out"

This list can go on as far as our collective imagination can take us.

How can we help? Let us open our hearts to the idea that he Philippine Center is POSSIBLE. We must believe that we can achieve this dream. And once the capital campaign is underway let us be generous with our time, talent and resources.

WE CAN MAKE THE PCM HAPPEN. WE CAN MAKE OUR OWN HISTORY, ONE BRICK AT A TIME!
